A resident from northeast (Stephen Pecina) said, “I was looking out the window, and then I just see all the cars just start lining up, and then it just got crazy,”
Police said two People were injuring during an effort to set off fireworks. One of them had his hand injured severely while other man have lost eye sight and injured his fingers.
Around 11 pm, San Antonio police found and arrived at the scene near 200 racers in the parking lot.
Pecina also said that he’d experienced such suspicious things in the past too.
Police said some cars left and set up to race at Perrin Beitel and Centergate, where officers arrested two people.
“Perrin Beitel and Nacogdoches are long, long roads that make it very, very attractive to this kind of situation,” said Clayton Perry, District 10 councilman.
Perry hopes to get more patrols out in the area.
“I’m certainly going to talk with Chief (William) McManus on possibly increasing patrols along those areas. But it’s very important that residents, if they see something like this happening, call 911 right away to get their attention and get them into the area,” Perry said.
